Design of precast elements, regardless of module, looks similar, only program functions are slightly different in the context of specific modules. The work with precast filigree slabs is presented belo, slabs can be prepared according to individual design.


Preparation and adaptation of the environment for the project


Parameters for precast elements can be defined separately in the “Catalogs” tab. After entering these parameters, user can save them and create libraries of slabs with different characteristics for one specific factory, or assign appropriate parameters for many factories.

For example, the width of the standard “non-splited” slabs (eg 250 cm or 240 cm) used by the manufacturer and the width of the so-called half-size plates (122cm or other) can be defined. User also have possibility to configure various typical reinforcement spacings, different shapes and lengths of rods protruding from slabs.

In addition, user can enter parameters such as, for example, the type of crane used on the construction site – depending on its lifting capacity and program settings, PLANBAR will assist user with division of the slabs taking into account their weight.

Reinforcement type for elements can be redefined and adapted to each production factory. Already at the initial stage, using the results from static calculations, user can create reinforcement of the slab by declaring the necessary reinforcement surface required for the slab. PLABNAR automatically propose possibly most suitable reinforcement type.

After basic reinforcement is defined, user can also define additional reinforcement, i.e. reinforcement at free edges, openings, in the most loaded places. In the case of filigree slabs, similar settings can be assigned to trusses and their spacings or only to determine boundary conditions, i.e. the maximum spacing of trusses and their distance from the panel edges – the program will adjust the spacing in accordance to the width. Analogically to bars, user can define additional trusses (openings, free edges, etc.)

Placement and modification


Elements can be placed into model in different ways, depending on the specific tasks and guidelines. Due to this, the user can customize the work environment according to individual needs in order to speed up work.

There are the following ways to create elements:

  • Using a 2D drawing in different format as a base, *.dwg, *.dxf, *.pdf, other formats (one click anywhere in the middle of the contour)
  • By entering own contour with 2D lines in the program (and then one click anywhere in the middle of the contour)
  • By converting already existing slabs into filigree slabs, from a model created in another program, working in accordance with BIM (Allplan, ArchiCAD, Revit, Tekla, etc.)
  • Creating the slab directly in the PLANBAR environment (each slab point must be entered manually).

Slabs can be inserted horizontally as well as inclined. In each of these methods the division of the slabs into the filigree slabs is done automatically, taking into account previous settings.

The division of elements and their dimensions can be modified at any time in the process of precast elements design. This also applies to the edges of the slabs (user can change the upper and lower phases on the edges), the edges at the openings (eg add consoles next to the stairs), automatic insertion of the locks at the edges. After adding openings to the slabs, the reinforcement and fixtures (e.g. hooks, etc.) will be adjusted.

The placement of the slabs may take place in relation to indicated point or automatically according to established rule. The dimensions of divisions can vary.

Documentation and data for production

Elements for documentation, such as views, sections, plans, quantitiy take-offs, etc., can be placed manually each time or a template can be defined. In the first case elements and their locations will be determined separately. In the second case, elements of documentation will be automatically included.


The movie below shows one of the ways on how to split an architectural slab into filigree panels. It should be emphasized that this is just one of many ways to elaborate documentation in PLANBAR. For example, user can also convert imported models and split them into precast elements or use *.dwg drawing as base, just one click in the middle of the contour is required.

Data for production

There are different ways to transfer data to production factories, depending on the desired results. There are both graphic documentation and reports. In addition, in case when manufacturing machines and production lines support appropriate formats (UNITECHNIK), these data can be transferred directly for production.

Production data can be send only by using the appropriate PLANBAR module (i.e. in this case module for the filigree slab system). Precast production process can be optimized via program TIM.
